Thinx - Periodical - The Best Apps For Tracking Your Period

by Alexandra Wee | 06/07/2018

I admit, there are just some things I’ll never be able to keep track of (like how many times I’ve really seen all 236 episodes of Friends). But when my period is coming? I deff need to be in that loop.

Thanks to modern tech, figuring out the exact day Aunt Flo is expected to drop in and ruin–I mean–shower you with love is just a tap away. Not only can a period-tracking app help you monitor your cycle, but many will also help you identify your most fertile days, plot your monthly mood patterns (read: when you’ll be cranky af), and even join chat groups on all things pertinent to periods.

Who said getting your life in order had to be hard?

Clue

A fan favorite for its no-frills interface and science-backed insight, this app has also been rated as one of the top free flow trackers by The Obstetrics & Gynecology Journal (nbd).

Like many other tracker apps, the more information details you input, like sleeping patterns, cervical fluid, and sexual activity, the more accurate your predictions will be.

Clue has been heavily raved about for its in-depth analyses of your monthly cycle, including past periods and predictions for up to three cycles in advance. Curious for some serious intel behind your period? Clue is for you.

Free for both iOS and Android devices.

MyFLO

If you want to keep your hormones happy all month long, MyFlo’s got your back.

Track over 30 symptoms, from acne and fatigue to cravings, and the app’s algorithms will help you choose the best foods, workout routines, and even sex for every phase of your cycle.

Again, the more information you input, the more accurate your readings will be so, be sure to check in daily (and don’t worry, you can set up reminders!).

The app also lets you sync up with your partner via email, giving them the heads up on your next phase, so they can be there for you in the best way (meaning having a chocolate supply at the ready).

$1.99 on iOS and Android devices.

Glow

This Webby-winning app is perfect for tracking both basic period patterns and familiarizing you with the nooks and crannies of your fertility cycle (if that still feels totally foreign). Whether you’re looking to conceive, or to avoid it at all costs, Glow will get all your flow’s rhythms in check.

Track everything from moods and PMS symptoms to medications you’re on, alcohol intake, and more. The app is also full of open forums for all your bodily queries (from discharge to clotting), sex and dating questions, and even mental health support.

Free for both iOS and Android devices.

Spot On

Created by the folks at Planned Parenthood, this app is simple, straightforward, and extra-useful if you’re concentrating on your contraceptives. Input any method, set daily reminders, sync up doctors’ appointments, and get tips on what to do if you miss a pill or need to switch from the patch to the ring (or any other method). Of course, there’s also an easy PP center locator should you need to see a professional stat as well as helpful in-app resources from PP’s experts if you need to find out something on the fly.

Free for both iOS and Android.
